WE ARE: THE STORY OF US
Photovoice Storytelling Camp Gather@411, Wise, Virginia JULY 2024
Tell your story…Make a Difference!
It all begins with a story…a dream, a voice, a future. Dr. Amanda Hall, founder of Empower Action and veteran educator, in collaboration with Gather@411, is excited to offer a week-long photovoice storytelling camp for youth residing in Wise County and the City of Norton. This camp promises your child the opportunity to build their confidence, use their voice for good, and learn new and creative ways of expression while exploring their Appalachian history, culture, natural surroundings, community, and their unique selves. They will get to tell the most epic story ever…the story of us! Participants will use photography, art, poetry, and storytelling techniques to create a story all their own…the story of what it means to be their amazing, wonderful selves - leaders and change-makers…what it means to be the future of Appalachia.
*At the end of the camp session, participants will display their work at a special Gallery Event + Reception to be held at the Gather@411 event space in downtown Wise.
